May 05, 2009Current Tips for Buyers---Great Opportunities Await
May 04, 2009Although loans are more difficult to get than they were a few years ago, and some sellers still want the prices of ’05, the present time still holds a very interesting opportunity for buyers. It’s a buyer’s market. That means there aren’t an awful lot of buyers out there, but there are lots of listings for sale. What results from this scenario is often times a seller is willing to negotiate the price and accept substantially less than list price.
Because real estate is selling for less than it was in 2005, this may not be the perfect time for one to sell their home to buy another, but for investors or for those who don’t need to sell their home in order to purchase another---this may be a good time to buy. In fact, an opportune time. Especially with the low interest rates. Some consider their money safer for now in real estate than in banking institutions.
Another timely offer not to be taken lightly is the 8% tax credit up to $8,000 for first-time buyers---those who haven’t owned a home within the last three years. This offer is for homes bought after January 1, 2009 and before December 1, 2009. It does not need to be paid back if the new home is primary residence for at least three years. Something worth looking into.

Planting Time
April 03, 2009
For over a week now the redbuds have graced our hillsides with the beauty we have come to love in an Ozark spring. Some have already planted their early garden crops, others are on the waiting list to have their garden spots tilled. Many are planning to practice horticulture this year to off-set the low economy. The variety is wide as to what we can grow and with the zone vacillating somewhere from a 5 to 7. Get out this spring, and dig in.

Spring has Sprung at Ava, Missouri
March 09, 2009
Although we surlely will dip into some freezing spells before summer is upon us, and indeed there was frost on my windshield this morning; Spring has sprung. Giving proof to this is the display of blooming crocus and daffodil waving on the green hill sides. The fruit tree blossums are visible and some even bursting open into flower. Granted, it makes my heart glad to see such a positive showing, but I wish they would hold off a couple weeks more to avoid those last frigid graspings from winter.
